Join us for our first in person event since 2019.
Living with a long-term illness and going through rehabilitation takes a lot of energy and requires support, not just from family but from employers too.
This session will aim to help employers further support employees who have long-term illnesses and will cover the importance of job roles and empathy, as well as areas in which employers can help, benefiting in the long term.
We are delighted to be joined by Wayne Phillips who is an Ambassador for Velindre Cancer Centre. Wayne will talk through a new program called Empagise, which will be offered to patients of Velindre. This aims to help people who are directly/indirectly affected with long-term illness, and highlight the importance of the employer and job role during recovery/rehabilitation.
The program draws on Wayne's role as an ambassador of Velindre and a previous partner of The Wallich, as well as his wealth of commercial experience running high capacity call centres.
Also joining us will be some of the employment law team at Darwin Gray, who will be discussing the employment law implications that come with long term conditions becoming a disability under the equality act, the obligations that arise as a result, and the potential consequences of getting it wrong.
There will be opportunities for networking at the start of the session along with breakfast, as well as after the talk.
We hope to see you there!
